A branch of psychology that is concerned with the scientific study of human learning across the lifespan. While this mainly focuses on children and adolescents, it is also relevant to parents and caregivers. Educational psychologists often have skills in areas of assessments, psychotherapy (play therapy) and research. Educational psychologists also have skills related to areas of learning and development.
Occupational Therapists (OTs) help people across the lifespan who have physical, sensory or cognitive challenges. An OT can help an individual regain or aquire independence in all areas of his/her life by assisting individuals to overcome barriers that affect their emotional, social, functional, scholastic and physical development or needs. They do this through the use of play and/or daily activities/occupations that are meaningful and purposeful to the individual.
Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication problems and speech disorders. Speech therapy techniques are used to improve communication. These include articulation therapy, language intervention activities, and others depending on the type of speech or language disorder. Speech therapy may be needed for speech disorders that develop in childhood.
