Occupational Therapist
Nadine Volkwyn
Nadine has a great passion for working with children and believes that early intervention through the use of PLAY and a multi-sensory approach to learning are effective and fun ways to achieve each child's individual potential. She appreciates that all children learn differently and by embracing differences we are able to use each child's unique strengths as a tool to develop weaker areas. Nadine is easy going, creative, playful, yet, firm. She loves nature and any outdoor adventures!
Nadine graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2015 with a BSc Occupational Therapy (Honors) degree. She then completed her community service year at Uitenhage Provincial Hospital in the Eastern Cape in 2016. At the hospital, Nadine gained valuable experience in a variety of areas related to OT which included physical health, mental health and pediatrics. After completing her community service year, Nadine found her niche and specialized in the area of pediatrics. She worked at an established private practice in Port Elizabeth where she gained valuable experience in Sensory Integration and Praxis. Since moving back to Cape Town in 2018, Nadine has also gained experience working with children with intellectual disabilities at a special needs school. She started practicing independently in 2019, working at this Centre as part of a multidisciplinary team, while also running school based therapy at Meerendal Pre-Primary and Pinecrest Learning Academy in Pinelands. She is also part of a team of therapists based at a Pre-Primary school in Town. Nadine has started her training in Ayres Sensory integration (ASI) and is in the process of completing this post graduate course.
